When Chris Goutman took over as executive producer and hired hacks like Hogan Sheffer and Jean Passanante to write, the show rapidly went downhill. THey ignored all the vets, didn't give the audience what they wanted and ultimately, this beloved program became unwatchable. Even in the months after it was cancelled before its final airdate they pimped us with new characters (which the audience cared nothing about)instead of focusing on the remaining veterans (which no other soap opera could boast); especially the character of Reid at the end. This smarmy, obnoxious character was absolutely the worst yet they glorified him in every way when they should have been focusing on Luke and Noah and having them get married in a commitment ceremony at the end. And the ending for this wonderful show was lackluster to say the least. Not a worthy goodbye after 54 years for an american institution. -- Submitted By: (larkpraise) on October 24, 2010, 10:37 am
