Bone The Fish - Most Recent Comments!

Who said you can't coin your own term? What is "Boning the Fish"? It's a moment. A defining moment when you know that your favorite TV Show, Celebrity, Movie Series or Music Group has reached its peak. That instant you know from now on...it's all downhill. Some call it a climax of sorts. We call it "Boning the fish". From that moment on things will simply never be the same.

Knight Rider (1982) - TV Shows
This show was a failure from day one. You have the no talent bum David Hasselhoff, horrible scripts, an obnoxious mouthy computer, bad acting all around. They tried to make the show light hearted and funny. I would have made it more dramatic, I would have ditched David Hasslehoff, I would have hired better writers, I would have ditched the idea of the car thinking for itself. I also would have made the car amphibious (including being a submarine like James Bond). -- Submitted By: (quimbyt) on October 8, 2009, 12:00 am

Christmas - Random Topics
Christmas has boned because it is too commercial. Stores start cramming down customers' throats in October to where people are just sick of it. Christmas was not started in the US in the Civil War, it has been the 25th of December everywhere for hundreds if not thousands of years. And as far as when Jesus was actually born, no we will never know, but this is a good enough time to celebrate it. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on October 7, 2009, 8:28 pm

Y2K Bug, The - Random Topics
Yeah, the world CLEARLY ended nine years ago. You can tell by the fact that WE'RE STILL HERE. The arrival of January 1, 2000 brought nothing more than good times, wicked hangovers, and a whole lot of people spending their New Year's Eve sitting underground in bomb shelters when they could have been out having fun. -- Submitted By: (ScottyB) on October 7, 2009, 8:00 pm

To the Ebenezer Scrooge who posted first, just because Christ was not literally born on Dec. 25th doesn't mean his birth cannot be commemorated at that time. Oh...and incidentally, the three wise men didn't visit him when he was just a newborn in a manger either...he was actually several months old by the time they showed up to bring their gifts. -- Submitted By: (Stephanie) on October 7, 2009, 11:40 am

I reread the posts and conclude that I believe shanequia because she conducted the experiment with the hot dog herself and was relating her own conclusions via her observations as a good scientist is supposed to do! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on October 7, 2009, 7:38 am

Coca Cola Company - Random Topics
quimbyt, I can't say whether it's true or not about it dissolving a hot dog but I can tell you it CAN dissolve a scoop of ice cream into mere froth in a matter of minutes- and ice cream's a kind of food! In any case, a secret recipe which includes an excess amount of syrup mixed with carbonated water isn't something the human body really needs. All the above said, though, I hope anyone reading this who travels to the Atlanta area gets a chance to go to the Coca Cola Exhibit which details the company's take of the history of the drink and how it became one of the first commercial products to be mass marketted to world wide distribution. Quite fascinating! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on October 7, 2009, 7:35 am

Andy Kaufman - Celebrities
Well, I'll have to agree with you that he's overrated. But I definitely feel that he's very talented. Played one of the funniest characters in "Taxi" and pretty amusing stand-up routines (from what I saw on Saturday Night Live). However the rest of him is just...weird. The fascination with exploiting women wrestlers coupled with new age practices. Very odd combination. He had a talent for shocking you or at least scratching your head. Made for an entertaining biography in "Man on the Moon". So for me, it's the wrestling fetish. -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 6, 2009, 9:33 pm

I watched a few Fred videos on the recommendation af a friend, and WOW, it is crap, plain and simple. What he says.....just isn't funny. Tom Brady - Celebrities
Rodney Harrison had it all right. Tom Lady really does need to take off the skirt and put on some slacks. He whines and begs the refs to give him some BS calls, and the worst part is, they agree with him. ESPN is also in love with him and the Patriots. If it were up to ESPN, Tom and the Patriots would play Brett Favre and the Vikings every week on Monday Night Football. Sheesh! -- Submitted By: (ScottyB) on October 6, 2009, 4:41 pm

Bowl Championship Series (BCS) - Random Topics
I feel bad for Boise State and Cincinnati right now. They can both finish the season undefeated and the best bowl game they'll get a chance to play in is the Fiesta Bowl...if they're lucky. Bonanza - TV Shows
Not a bad series but sometimes it got distracting how cheap the show was. Like, no matter WHERE they went to, the campfires they built always looked EXACTLY the same- and the stagecoach had one wheel that never turned! Still, they should have just sold the ranch when Hoss bought the farm! Can't say I ever missed Adam who was even stodgier than Ben and, frankly ,always was somewhat relieved when he quietly departed in the rerun circuits. What's also funny was how neither Lorne Greene or Michael Landon had EVER done much (if any) horseback riding befo as city folk before being cast but they quickly learned how to ride like experts to keep their jobs! LOL -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on October 6, 2009, 3:08 pm

Family Feud - TV Shows
Occasionally okay as time filler- principally due to a few of the survey questions/answers being interesting with broken clock regularity! However; there's one thing I've never understood in all its incarnations: why don't they let the contestants sit down when they're not doing face-off lightning rounds? It's not as though they're thinking any smarter on their feet! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on October 6, 2009, 3:01 pm

Food Fights - Random Topics
Both my parents told me all about having grown up during the Depression and seeing breadlines so I never got the appeal of wasting perfectly good food just to make a mess for other folks to clean up when there are starving children! That said, though, I have to admit I DO laugh out loud seeing a good old-fashioned pie fight in classic comedies-everyone from Chaplin to Laurel+Hardy to Lucy (who also got into a funny grape fight). OK, I'm being a bit of a hypocrite with that but I figure those are empty calories that would have gone to a green room. Off camera; however, there's no virtue to having these. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on October 6, 2009, 2:45 pm

Breaking Bad - TV Shows

That '80s Show - TV Shows
This show boned because it aired too soon. 80's nostalgia had not kicked in back in 2002, so it wasn't fully appreciated. If it were to air now....it would be a massive hit. -- Submitted By: (Stephanie) on October 6, 2009, 1:39 pm

Airport - Movie Series
This series boned from day one. The first movie probably didn't seem so awful when it first came out, but it now seems incredibly cliched. And there are three films following the first one, each of which is worse than its predecessor. Fortunately, the first two of these were so effectively spoofed by Airplane! that the series died in its tracks. -- Submitted By: (Eugene) on October 6, 2009, 6:49 am

Was there really any need to make any sequels or remakes of the classic? I don't think so. T'was beauty that killed the beast (which they had wanted 90-something Fay Wray herself to say in the last remake) but it the beast (or ape) that saved the Empire State Building via his climb which transformed what had been a gigantic white elephant moneypit that had been completed smack in the worst part of the Depression into THE famous address NYC address in the world apart from the Statue of Liberty! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on October 5, 2009, 7:16 am

Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman - TV Shows
Somewhat like "Coronation Street" in the UK, this was a soap based on working class characters- only was somewhat of a zany dark comedy . It didn't take long for it to go from being merely quirky to being a sad self-parody- and it didn't help that the main character went from being a sympathetic spacey doormat to being an annoying whiner. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on October 5, 2009, 7:07 am

As I am typing this comment, the TV behind me is playing a documentary on vampires! YES, you heard right: vampires on MSNBC, "The Place for Politics!" Yes, some people are aware of the fact that a man named Jonathan Sharkey of the "Vampires, Witches, & Pagans Party" ran for President back in 2008, but that doesn't mean a news channel should play documentaries on vampires!!!!! This is even worse than CNN becoming "The Michael Jackson Channel!" Sounds like this young news channel has become 50,000 Filet-O-Fish sandwiches ready for consumption! -- Submitted By: (SVN) on October 4, 2009, 7:13 pm

National Geographic - Random Topics
National Geographic was a good magazine. I grew up reading my grandpa's extensive collection. I would say that it hasn't so much boned as just become a victim of its long (121 years) in circulation. It seems that they just have the most boring articles now. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on October 4, 2009, 6:42 pm

Harry Potter - Movie Series
After the first four novels which were great, the following ones didn't really have strong storylines - instead focusing mainly on the impending finale between Harry and Voldemort. For this reason, although the books were long and complicated, the film makers probably struggled to adapt them to movies and keep the audience interested. Also(and this may not be a popular opinion), Daniel Radcliffe is not the greatest actor in the world - I think this became apparent in the second film when they were not little kids anymore. -- Submitted By: (Phil.JS) on October 4, 2009, 4:04 pm

War of the Worlds (1989 Series) - TV Shows
There have been plenty of shows over the years ruined by changes to cast and producers - but War of the Worlds is possibly on top of the list. Good, scary stories interspersed with humour in the first season; dull & dark confusing rubbish in the second. The first episode of season 2 tied up some loose ends with the old cast and then moved off in a completely new direction with completely new rules. -- Submitted By: (Phil.JS) on October 4, 2009, 3:41 pm

Space: 1999 - TV Shows
Space: 1999 series 1 was brilliant. The episodes were dark, sometimes menacing and many had a haunting / surreal soundtrack which ran throughout the show, giving each episode a unique feel. 'Dragons Domain' really freaked me out when I first saw it all those years ago, and I would definetely rate it as the most scary thing I ever saw on TV as a child. Unfortunately, it was completely revamped for the second series, bringing in new characters and getting rid of most of the existing ones. The new writer / producer was straight from the final season of STAR TREK (and it showed). An alien was introduced as a new member of Moonbase Alpha, and good sci-fi stories were replaced with episodes with monsters in rubber-suits. A great shame. -- Submitted By: (Phil.JS) on October 4, 2009, 1:54 pm

Batman (1966) - TV Shows
I don't get the argument that the show "wraped" the original...the whole thing was one big parody! My favourite part was always the "Trap of the week". It was a great joke on the fact that nobody simply shoots the hero! Or all the little stupid tibits they put in it...like the "poles to batcave sign" (hello, who needs a sign when only two people are supposed to use the poles?), the fact that everybody on the street simply ignores all the masked people running around between them aso. The only fault the show had was that it run far too long. They really beat the thing to death. If I had to pinpoint the "boning moment", then when they had to replace "The Riddler" and "Catwoman". -- Submitted By: (Swanpride) on October 4, 2009, 12:56 pm

Small Wonder - TV Shows
I liked this show for some reason at the time. Not something I could really watch now. Robot was just too cute and the cheesy special effects were comedy in themselves. The goofy geeky dad fit into the show too. -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 4, 2009, 11:26 am

I'm honestly not sure how to rate this. The weekday show was really silly and campy, but this version was too dark and angsty for such a character. I just never picture Sonic having a serious storyline. Zelda, maybe. Undecided. -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 4, 2009, 11:23 am

Facts of Life, The - TV Shows
The dynamics just changed when the Garrett girls worked at Edina's Edibles and later that other store (forgot the name). This double-boned when Charlotte Rae left. I never considered Cloris Leechman's character to be a matriarch for the gals. She seemed more like she'd dispense a little advice where needed but largely lived her own life. This was also when the girls were glamming up and seemed more like they didn't really need each other anymore. Everyone was just doing their own thing. Quite honestly, it was seeing the gals glam up beautifully (I was a teen) that kept me watching the show. Not the storylines nor George Clooney (no offense to the actor). -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 4, 2009, 11:10 am

Batman (1966) - TV Shows
I side with the "cheese was good" comments. One of the rare cases for me in which campy comedy works for me. "The Monkees" has as much camp as well which I also liked. I think it was largely due to the period it was in. It just fit perfectly with the 60's. I'm surprise Batman and Robin didn't break out into dance sequences with polka dot strobes and (really) tilted camera shots and extreme close-ups. (Or did I miss that episode? lol). After seeing the movie just a few years ago, I couldn't stop laughing more. It is just prime entertainment, esp with friends regardless of age. No one takes camp seriously. -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 4, 2009, 11:03 am

Coach - TV Shows
never really got into this show. I never found Craig T Nelson that funny. -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 4, 2009, 10:38 am
