Bone The Fish - Most Recent Comments!

Who said you can't coin your own term? What is "Boning the Fish"? It's a moment. A defining moment when you know that your favorite TV Show, Celebrity, Movie Series or Music Group has reached its peak. That instant you know from now on...it's all downhill. Some call it a climax of sorts. We call it "Boning the fish". From that moment on things will simply never be the same.

I would really see it starting at when Mike Helton was put in his position of power in NASCAR. Most of the rules and such he has put out there has really hurt the sport. I know lots of people could say the Brian France or such, but I think Helton is the main brains of the boning. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on December 6, 2009, 9:27 am

TV Guide - Random Topics
I guess when people go to Satellite TV, and Digital Cable, and have the listings for whatever they want to see with one click of a button, I guess TV Guide had to do what they had to do to reinvent itself, and that was to go gossip. They would of been better off just dying with some dignity. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on December 6, 2009, 9:03 am

From Football to NASCAR to Baseball, short of tiny little updates that mean chickenshit, it has seemed that each year, the games has been the same as last year. Madden, ever since they got the exclusive license, the quality of their games has not seemed to go up that much. Ever since NASCAR gave EA Sports the exclusive license each year has seemed to be the same thing, just with a different label. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on December 6, 2009, 9:00 am

Boo-Bah is the name of a teddy bear I had throughout my childhood (from when I was 1 day old). To see this lame, drugged-out show with the name I so lovingly called my bear just sent me on a RAMPAGE! -- Submitted By: (Burmy) on December 6, 2009, 2:22 am

Sims, The - Random Topics
I never really cared for Sims 2 (I was pretty sure that there would be Sims 3 one day, and there surely will be Sims 4 one day too...why bother? There are still creaters who will give me great new stuff for sims 1), but thats not the reason, the game boned for me. It actually boned a little bit earlier, when they created superstar and put a copy protection on it, which crashed with the newest windows systems. Since I have XP, my pc can't read the CD properly anymore...one would think that during the last YEARS EA would have bothered to create a patch for the problem, but noooooo, why should they, its not like the sims 1 gamers are the buyers of the future, are they? One would think that they would have at least learned after the fiasco...but noooo, with the sims 2 they had the safe disk problem again. The absolute boning moment, not only for the sims, but for EA in general, is the new copy protection which prevents the buyer from installing the game on more than five PCs...hello, I BOUGHT the software! It is my freaking right to play the game for the rest of my life, never mind how many different PC I decide to own in the meantime. -- Submitted By: (Swanpride) on December 6, 2009, 1:11 am

Genesis - Music Groups
As I was reading Diezman's comment, I was about to rebut, but you are right. I thought Genesis was lucky to get a great lead to replace Peter Gabriel, but now that you mention it, Genesis did become Phil Collins back up band at that point. There is little difference between their Collins albums and his solos. I still like both pre and post Collins Genesis, but there was a difference. -- Submitted By: (Qsh) on December 5, 2009, 12:02 pm

Alan Parsons Project, The - Music Groups
Never boned! AP put out some of the best prog/art rock of the 70s and 80s. Incredible musicianship, seamless production and great songwriting make AP one of the best bands to come out of the 20th century. -- Submitted By: (diezman) on December 5, 2009, 11:55 am

Ghost Hunters - TV Shows
I still enjoy the show, but it seems like they are being pushed to determine that more places are "haunted". Much of the evidence they used to find unsure, they now use to make it more exciting. In the first few seasons most of the places they investigated were declared not haunted, but in recent shows, everything is haunted. It just makes them less believable. As a ghost hunter I have discovered maybe one in ten places I investigate are haunted. Granted I do not have the financial backing to go to America's most haunted places. Which may be another aspect of this issue. TAPS used to go to people's houses to help them, now they go to more interesting spots. I suppose ratings are an issue. -- Submitted By: (Qsh) on December 5, 2009, 11:44 am

Battlestar Galactica 2004 - TV Shows
The finale was an odious way to end a show that once held so much promise, but Battlestar Galactica truly boned after the New Caprica story (which I loved, btw). All of the contemptible plot points that culminated in the dreadful ending ("the final five," "dead Starbuck," "Watchtower," etc.) have their roots in the ashes of New Caprica. It's also right around the same time when Jane Espenson became a producer. -- Submitted By: (pbrain) on December 5, 2009, 10:08 am

Three Stooges, The - TV Shows
I could get the argument for the death of Curly as a boning moment, but Shemp was a more than capable stooge. It was Shemp's death that boned them, especially when that whiny Joe came on board. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on December 5, 2009, 4:38 am

Sex and the City - TV Shows
Not having cable, "SATC" was a show which I had heard so much about and was able to view when it came to "regular" tv via syndication. I was amazed at the level of writing in this day and age because I avoided sitcoms like the Plague. I found most of them stunningly unfunny and gravitated towards reality shows and reruns like 'All in the Family.' The witty dialogue of "SATC" is truly impressive, but I believe it JTSd (sorry, but I am not feeling this new expression) during the sixth and final season with Charlotte becoming a Jew and Carrie taking up the "The Russian" (oh, and before him, that whiny little biotch Berger). In the case of Carrie with Berger, she acted manic, which was out of character for her...well...character. It was an exaggeration which marks the demise of tv shows. "All in the Family" began doing more physical comedy and Archie's malpropisms started going thru the roof. Another red flag is when the characters over do it, as in "Roseanne" when Laurie Metcalf became more shrill. So it was good that "Sex and the City" ended when it did. It preserved its snappy writing and minimized the lamola plot lines. -- Submitted By: (jaws) on December 4, 2009, 9:03 pm

Sopranos, The - TV Shows
I do not care what reasoning is given to why or how the least episode ended, that was a total, bogus, copout. Major bone, and made Seinfield's final episode look good in comparison -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on December 4, 2009, 2:05 pm

Chappelle's Show - TV Shows
Dave Chappelle probably did the smart thing, as no doubt within a few more seasons, his show would of probably been hijacked, and made into something Dave Chappelle did not want. Sure, he ended up losing some money in the deal, but at least he save some of his credibility. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on December 4, 2009, 1:45 pm

Doug - TV Shows
I loved this show when it was on Nick, so when I heard it was going to be on ABC a few years later, I was happy about it. Sadly, had I known that Disney was going to take the fillet knife in this fish and really bone it, I never would of even thought of this show. Probably one of the worst cases of a show getting boned BAD. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on December 4, 2009, 1:33 pm

For me, MASH actually did a reverse Bone. I'm one of the few who prefers the later seasons (6 onward) to the earlier, more comedic ones. This, in spite of Alan Alda's ocassionaly insufferable liberal self-righteousness and the unbearable psychobabble episodes(It's a Sidney Friedman episode, run!). The show really comes into its own when Winchester shows up. -- Submitted By: (BrianBuck) on December 3, 2009, 7:49 pm

Clerks/"View Askewniverse" series - Movie Series
'Clerks' was brilliant, 'Mallrats' was mediocre, 'Chasing Amy' was OK, 'Dogma' sucked, and 'Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back' was great. However, one small problem remains... Adult Swim - Random Topics
I hate to say it since Adult Swim has provided so much entertainment and laughter for me for years, but in the past few years virtually all of their new shows have been weak, poorly animated and laughless in large extent. The only exceptions I can think of are Moral Orel and Venture Brothers and MO is cancelled and VB can't really be described as a "new" show anymore. Drinky Crow, Tim and Eric, Fat Guy, Devil's Daughter, Assy McGee, Superjail, Minoriteam, Xavier, Saul of the Mole Men, Squidbillies, Metalocalypse, and many others of recent vintage seem to subscribe to the "if its gross, it's funny" ehtos, and for me, it's not. Not much subtlety or wit involved in these shows. And the over reliance on old chestnuts (reruns) of Family Guy and Aqua Teen is a mistake too. At some point, everyone is going to tire of them and then where will they be? I also echo the feelings of other fans who bemoan the live action emphasis. Shouldn't those shows be on Comedy Central (if aired anywhere)? -- Submitted By: (BaronCathode) on December 3, 2009, 6:41 pm

Hotels - Random Topics
Whilst I don't travel enough to go to hotels frequently, I always make a point of being nice the people who work there. It's wise to show respect to workers no matter what business you are at, whether you're at hotels, restaurants, etc. (even if you don't get a discount or other bonus). I hate rude people who think they're royalty and thus allowed to treat people--especially workers--like garbage, and act like they're above other customers. I can imagine how tempting it must be for a worker to restrain themselves from launching a profanity-laced tirade against these jerks. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on December 3, 2009, 5:51 pm

Great testimony, Joe. I don't think hotels ever boned. By the way, I agree with you that hotel workers are also people, just like anyone else. It's a wonder that you have to adjust rates up rather down. You made a great comment. -- Submitted By: (MacFan95) on December 3, 2009, 11:45 am

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire - TV Shows
One of the things that made this show unique was the lack of a time limit. Contestants could take as long as they liked to answer a question. The bonus? It added to the suspense factor, especially when the question thoroughly stumped the contestant. Now that WW2BAM has a time limit, it's turned into yet another quiz show. It wasn't as good when Regis left, but it at least had a redeeming factor. They flushed it away by adding a time limit. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on December 3, 2009, 8:45 am

Dol, agreed in every way. When they did what they did to the Yankees, it was a nice, heartwarming thing that happened, seeing the "Evil Empire" get beat like that. Now, the Red Sox have become the very thing that Red Sox fans have hated. Have to disagree. Sure, the Yankees have an advantage of having millions of bucks to bank on, but the Pirates, and a few other teams need to suck it up, build strong minor league systems, and keep on putting out a good product, while not screaming "BROKE!!!" Besides, whats to say that with a Salary Cap, that would kill off any dynasties. The NFL has one, and the Patriots had their dynasty. I like bmovies's story on how what was once THE source for TV listings; it's now a complete joke! Other than that, I'd have to say TV Guide was OVER when they KILLED the "Jump the Shark" site, which was one of my favorite sites ever! Using my trademark rant, "I logged on to Jump The Shark back in February or so, only to find out that the priceless comments have been wiped off the face of the Earth! I am mad! I have been a JTS fan since 2003, and I am shocked to see it disappeared! I even wanted to see a Disney Channel page similar to the Nick page! I want my JTS back!" That being said, I am boycotting TV Guide (except for maybe an electronic TV listing system built-into the TV) until this issue is taken care of! -- Submitted By: (SVN) on November 30, 2009, 6:07 pm

Nip/Tuck - TV Shows
Anyone else think that they should just kill Matt off and spare him all the crap they seem to enjoy throwing at him? -- Submitted By: (flamemagic) on November 30, 2009, 3:14 pm

NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Ra - Random Topics
Two reasons that kind of go hand in hand. The Car of Tomorrow was just a bad move, took all the creativity out of setting up the cars and most of the excitement out of the actual racing. That was bad enough, but whoever designed the CoT played right into the hands of certain teams that could *cough cough* do no wrong and come every September, bore the fans to tears. Jimmie Johnson, aka the human version of Sominex, I'm looking in your direction. -- Submitted By: (jrbor76) on November 29, 2009, 1:40 pm

Steven Seagal - Celebrities
Well now he's a NOLA deputy. -- Submitted By: (trianna007) on November 29, 2009, 8:23 am

Chad Ochocinco - Celebrities
Chad Johnson is lame. The name change is lame. Pretending to bribe the ref is lame. -- Submitted By: (trianna007) on November 29, 2009, 8:11 am

Dwayne Wade - Celebrities
Gabrielle Union. That is all. -- Submitted By: (trianna007) on November 29, 2009, 8:10 am

Ashlee Simpson - Celebrities
Melrose Place. I actually thought she was ok as a faux rocker chick. Her acting is an entirely different matter. -- Submitted By: (trianna007) on November 29, 2009, 8:09 am

Conspiracy Theories - Random Topics
To even say the words "conspiracy theory" is taboo. It just renders you as someone who doesn't look at life at all angles, especially when a response to a problem is one you refuse to agree with no matter if there's a choice or not. -- Submitted By: (jconifer7) on November 29, 2009, 12:09 am

ALF - TV Shows
This was one of the dumbest shows to become a hit of all time, and that's saying something! -- Submitted By: (MisterScowl) on November 28, 2009, 8:17 pm

Captain N: The Game Master - TV Shows
I think the show was fine for the audience it was aiming for... mostly kids around 8 or 12 years old who liked to play video games. As adults looking back from a different era, yea we'd like to see a more mature, darker side of Captain N with greater character development... but come on. This was made by Nintendo, and aimed towards little kids. -- Submitted By: (KaseyAkira) on November 28, 2009, 3:16 pm
